Dioon Edule Discoloration

Apologies in advance if this is in the articles. I didn't see it.

I have some dioon edules that I bought and planted back in May or June. The leaflets are beginning to grow dark on the ends, and then more of a yellow toward the stem. But the dark area seems to be expanding toward the stem.

Any idea what causes this? Minerals maybe?
