If you give a plant too much nitrogen, you burn the crap out of the plant, outright. It is obvious when that happens and you probably wouldn't have any green on the plant now. On a side note to make people feel better about making mistakes, many years ago I fertilized some 12 foot containerized Sycamore trees with twice what I should have used and most of them had black stems in 2 weeks and in a month, I could kick them over at their base with my foot. It sounds like a lack of Manganese that is just starting to manifest itself. It causes brown splothchy leaves and when it isn't real bad, just off color leaves. Even though you might have used some fertilizer, if it was only a couple of weeks ago, chances are, none of the fertilizer is in that new flush because it usually takes at least 3 weeks for that fertilzier to get through the system. I would suggest going ahead and adding some Manganese Sulphate, which will not burn because it has no nitrogen.
It wouldn;t be a wet thing either. If you get root rot, you lose the leaves completely as well. Check out my article that says, "does you sago look like this" and see if that is anything like what you are seeing.
