yellowing along fond stem on new growth

I have a large area with many sizes of sagos and century plants. This spring I went through and trimmed the sagos back more severly than usual. Most of the new growth shows yellowing along the fond stems. This year is very dry so I don't think its over watering. Any help would be appreciated.
