You now have a mature female plant. If a male is anywhere near, you might get a bunch of seeds. You will see a picture of what you are describing in my hand polliantion article in my website linked in the header. If you do want to cut it out, you have to be careful. It is a cluster with several attached places on the stem. You would need to carefully cut each one off starting from the outside, working in, making sure not to rip it off the plant because that tear can cause a fungus and harm your plant. It is unlikely that you would hurt your plant, but I do know a couple of people who killed their plants because they were not careful. Another good reason to cut it off, if you don't want seeds, if you cut it off, new leaves should be produced somewhat soon, where if the plant gets pollinated, you won't get any new leaves till next spring.
