That all depends on what plants you have. Some species grow faster than others. Most cycads will grow larger with deep pots. Some people start their plants in 1 gallons, but something real good is what people around here call "citrus pots" they are 4 inches square and 12 inches deep. You could move them into those posts any time you think the seedlings are healthy enough for the move.
