I went ahead and cut off the bottom of the "offset" and used the fungicide and a root stimulant. I have a question about the tree sealer, though: Am I supposed to put this on the bottom of the "offset"? Won't that keep roots from growing?
Also, do I need to do anything special to the bottom part (the part still in the ground), or will it just start growing on its own? Thank you!

: My neighbor ran over my 4-foot sago
: and ripped it from the ground. It
: broke off at the base, but left the
: roots and the bottom of the trunk in
: the ground. Can I save the part that
: broke off?
:
: You can save both the top and the
: bottom. The bottom will produce
: offsets from the base. The top will
: have to be worked on. You would
: treat it like a huge offset. Take a
: look at two articles in my website.
: The most asked questions section,
: which talks about rooting offsets,
: and "never throw away a
: cycad" which talks about saving
: cycads. The key is cutting the top
: to the point where there is no
: damage. As an example, if a car were
: to impact the middle of the stem,
: then the middle might get bruised
: and you would want to cut it up to
: above the damaged area. Read the
: articles and then come back and tell
: us more about what shape the top is
: in and we will see what we can do.
:
: As far as I can tell, the truck
: impacted it at the base with its
: tire. I will do everything advised
: in your articles. Thank you!
