Posted by x_nyc on 6/8/2007, 5:48 pm, in reply to "Good Cycads for Containers" I have about 14 different varieties, all in pots. A good container size is one that fits the entire rootball - 15G is too big a jump from 4x4. It is better to increase to a slightly smaller pot size every time you repot, otherwise there is excess soil and excess moisture. --Previous Message--

All cycads will do well in containers, but the larger species of course will eventually need larger containers. Good container-growing practices need to be followed, there is much available info on the internet about potting mixes, fertilizing, etc.
: I'd like to know what cycad species
: are good for container culture. The
: deep root system of many species
: seems to be a challenge. Do people
: pot up from a 4x4x14 tree pot
: directly into a 15g pot? Thanks!
