Dear Tom, Having just acquired some coontie seeds, complete with their orange rubber coat, I couldn't just scrape it off, we do not have many fire ants here in the UK as you suggest in your article so I picked up some pectinase (pectolase it was labelled but I think it is the same.)from a home brew shop.
I have to say it has worked an absolute treat and my seeds are now extremely clean.
