: My husband and I purchased a saga palm
: last spring. We just fell in love
: with it. We know very little about
: the care of one of these plants and
: currently I fear that my plant will
: die if I don't find out how to treat
: it. Last summer it turned yellowish
: up the center of some of its leaves.
: Once winter came we brought it
: inside and it seemed to do okay for
: a while. Now it is turning yellow
: on all of the leaves and I'm not
: sure what to do for it. I live in
: Pennsylvania and it is definitely a
: cold climate area during the winter
: months which is why I brought it
: inside. However, I know that it
: does not get the light it probably
: needs. How often should I water it
: under these conditions and I think
: the pot that we bought it in is too
: small. How do I go about
: transplanting it?
:
Transplanting is not a problem. Just remove it from its container and plant it in a large pot. My article on soil shows what I use. On your yellowing leaves, this almost always comes from someone who is not watering enough when they bring it in for the winter. Usually, you can water well about 2 times a week and it should be alright, but all this depends on the soil and the water retention capabilities. If you have not seen any of my articles, my website is linked on the header of the main page of this forum. You can find articles on soil, watering and fertilizing, amoung many other articles.
