: We have a HUGE Sago palm (20 years
: old, we are having some septic
: problems. Anyone know what the
: roots are like on a 20 year old
: plant? I suspect the regular tree,
: but it could be both. Any links
: that might help?

You would be surprised in how small the root system would be on even an old plant. If you are asking this because you need to remove it, it can easily be moved without keeping a lot of roots. I have ana rticle in my linked site on transplanting cycads,(which is what we are talking about even if you put it back in the same place.
If you are wondering if the roots are getting into your drain field or something, typically cycad roots aren't all that invasive. They are larger than normal and sort of a loose group that might go down, mostly a couple of feet, and rarely more than 3 feet. They are not like the dense fiberous root systems you get with many trees and bushes.
