Hi--I don't know much about sago palms, even though I planted 2 plants 7 years ago and they're now about 6' tall and 5' wide. I never water and never fertilize but they're doing great. A visitor noticed a few days ago that both plants were producing babies around the base. He said if I cut the lower fronds off at the trunk, the babies would start growing from the trunk where the fronds were removed. I guess they're supposed to be easier to remove for transplanting. Don't know if it'll work but I'm going to try it. He said I needed to get all the babies and put them into individual pots and sell them. He used to do landscaping and he said he sold them for $25.00 a pot.I don't know if a frond taken from the base trunk will root, but now that you've suggested it I'm going to try and see.
