I don't like to over water a newly planted cycad that came in bare root. You don't know how much the plant is damaged from shipping and bare rooting and it is possible to have small cuts on it that would cause rot if kept too wet at first. I sort of lightly hit newly brought in plants. I just bought a bunch of bare rooted blue arenarius plants and what I do is spray the tops of the plants with the hose but try not to get too much in the soil until they have sat around for about a month or so to harden up, just in case there IS a problem.
