Lets see, I wouldn't ever let them go below freezing. I would only use a time release fertilizer like Nutircote because of possible splitting of the stem.(see my fertilizer article)I would water moderately becaue too much water can cause rot. Sewe my water article for that. I can get my plants to flush twice a year. Once in the later spring, and once around now. A few of mine are flushing right now. Coning seems to coincide with the spring flush.
