The 3rd Annual Great Cranberry Island Ultra Marathon/Lobster Bake/Camping Adventure was a tremendous success! Special thanks to all the Islanders, volunteers, and especially the runners, who helped to make the event memorable. G, Thanks for another great event!! Nice to see GCI veterans, as well as others attempting their FIRST Ultra- congrats on the accomplishment all. See you in 90 days @ MDI Marathon, (unless you're one of the few doing 24 hr event in Wakefield, MA this Friday!) I was going to do a keg stand but Dad wouldn't let me. He said if they dropped me I would break like a piece of peanut brittle. A note of thanks for a wonderful experience at your GCI Ultra this past weekend! From our pre-race 8:00 island arrival on Sat morning to our 8:45 departure on Sunday morning back to Northeast Harbor, everything in between will provide memories that'll not be soon forgotten by myself or my son Chase. Absolutely everything about the race was fantastic...the caliber of people running and volunteering, the course, the support, the on-going music, the post race lobster/beer, the campfire stories, the medal/granite keepsake...the list could go on and on. Even Chase...who somewhat against his will agreed to join me when I invited him to tag along asked me on the boat back to NEH, ... "we're coming back again next year right?" See you down the road... Every post above certainly reflects my feelings, too! I loved every aspect of the GCI event, but feel I missed out on some excitement by not camping on the island!
