Greetings all! The wheelchair division will be starting momentarily, with the elite women starting shortly after. Gary and I bumped into Sheri Piers this morning, dropping of her fluids with the rest of the elite runners -- she was in great spirits and felt good about today. (Note: The Wheelchair division just started.) It's pretty neat to see Sheri on the big screen warming up with the big girls like Kara Goucher and Dire Tune! The elite women just started, the pack is tucked together pretty well, and not moving particularly fast at this point. (At least that's what the commentators are saying -- they look like they're moving pretty quick to me!) I'm going to work on getting a few pics from the Invitational Mile yesterday, good to see some Maine natives in the mix. Also, MDIHS graduate and Bar Harbor Native Kristin (walton) Murphy placed 5th overall in the women's division in 18:10. Searchable 5K results are HERE, and Invitational Mile results are HERE. The men's race has officially started! Ryan Hall has taken off in the lead, and appears to be holding strong. So this is Gary's 30th Anniversary of his first Boston Marathon, I found some pics on my laptop, so we'll take a little walk down memory lane... Deriba Merga is currently leading the men's race at 35K with Dnaiel Rono behind him, and Ryan Hall in third. Merga dropped out in 2006, he was a mess. I saw him on Comm Ave and he was barely walking, weaving all over the road with a blank stare. The Women's lead pack is still tight with Alice Timbilili leading at 35K with Dire Tune, Bezunesh Bekele, and Kara Goucher follwoing.

Salina Kosgei in 2:32:16, followed by Dire Tune in 2:32:17, and Kara Goucher in 3rd in 2:32:25. Tune went down at the finish and taken away on a stretcher. Men will be finishing soon.

Deriba Merga in 2:08:42, followed by Daniel Rono in 2:09:32, and Ryan Hall in 3rd in 2:09:40. I'm headed outside to the finish now.
