All Crows, Anyone plan on running Providence May 4th. I am pacing a group of 3:30 marathoners. Anyone interested in splitting travel cost from Bangor to Providence please let me know if your interested. I plan on driving to Providence from Bangor very early Sunday morning. I expect to leave Providence an hour or 2 after the marathon arriving back in Bangor late afternoon. Possibly the same type of arrangement for Fredericton New Brunswick May 11. If interested reply with a post. Roger

Also if your interested in pacing a group of runners there may still be an opening for 3:00, 3:45 or 4:00 pace team leader. It sound's horrific from what I've heard on the local news, is it this bad where you're located too? I was actually watching MSNBC this morning and they mentioned the flooding and evacuation, but clearly used some stock 'evacuation' footage because it showed a four lane highway chock full of cars with all sorts of license plate, like California... WLBZ2 was much more.

M, I'm actually up on high ground, but 40 yards from a feeder brook that is QUITE swollen. The deal is this, the rain amounts varied from 3 inches upwards,(well over 6 inches) depending upon where you lived, and then you had to factor in topography, ie, closer to streams/rivers, etc. the greater the "swelling" factor. This w/e's local canoe race may be effected as the water is TOO high to get under a bridge so the start line may have to be moved downstream... I just got an e-mail from the Fredericton Marathon stating that their course NEXT w/e may well be impacted, as well,(They haven't mentioned it turning into a triathlon YET). The GOOD news is this... that at least all of the ice was cleared from the rivers/streams PRIOR to the flooding or it would have been MUCH, MUCH worse... But it's things like this, along with the brutal winters, (this year close to 200" of snow) that make us a TOUGH breed. Thanks for the thoughts!! Thanks for the support.... the waters are now receeding in most places allowing for surveying of the damages.... roads/bridges out in places. Just learned that the Aroostook Musterd's Road Race 5K this w/e in Ft. Kent, (UMFK) was cancelled as a result. This is the first time I can remember this happening due to flooding. Our last series race @ UMPI mid-April went on despite 4-6 inches of snow falling... That's the "County" for you. Roger, all the best with your 3:30 pace marathon in Providence. Does this mean you'll be free to race hard in Fredericton on the 11th. I've signed up myself and look forward to running with you. My friends are starting to question my sanity. I run a couple of events in Maine and next thing I know I'm a member of Crow Athletics, a member of Marathon Maniacs, I'm talking to those crazy "50 States" people, reading Dean Karnezes's book and running marathons on back to back weekends. I've enjoyed running marathons for the past 17 years, but after running the Cranberry Island Ultra and the MDI Marathon, I seem to be taking my game to a whole new level. I'll have to see if I can get a few more stars on my Maniac's ranking before the end of 2008. The Maniac Dave's, I am undecided on Fredericton because my daughter graduates from U-Maine this weekend and we are throwing a party for her on Saturday evening. I would like to run it though so don't be surprised to see me there. I also would like to run strong at Sugarloaf the following weekend. Good luck with your race...I'll continue to keep tabs on you guys through the race results. Roger

Providence went well yesterday. I even managed to run a couple more miles after the race. I was registered as a pacer leader for 3:30 attemptees. I ran a 3:29:42 officially and helped about a half a dozen people get a BQ and PR.
