We just got an call from a viewer who said Oprah mentioned our MDI Marathon held in Bar Harbor Maine on her show! We're trying to find out more information and will let you know what we find. In whatever context our race came up it is more good news for running in Maine and on Mount Desert Island, because you sure can't buy this kind of publicity. Come to think of it Oprah did the Chicago Marathon maybe she'll come here next!

The Islander provided the show with a photo of a marathon participant (from 2006) who is a woman who lost some 300 pounds. She was featured on the show yesterday.

got it earl. the woman was Cathi Lee from Waterrville. All great press! A lot of races only hope to have the recognition that we have receieved this past year. Between the October Runner's World, New Yorker, The New York Times, and all the local press, I would say that things are going pretty good in MDI MarathonLand! CAW! CAW! This is fun! There may be few out there who don't like the way we do things but one thing nobody can deny is that by sticking to our plan to bring positive attention to Maine runners and Maine races we get-er-done...as the saying goes, you can't please all the people all the time anyway. Speaking of which Cathi lost 340 lbs, talk about getting it done!
