An awesome marathon! This was my 41st state, 40 being the day before at Hartford, and although one of the toughest things I've done the race was one of the best so far in my 50 states quest. The course is tough but one of the most picturesque in the country. You are correct to call it the Big Sur of the East. Extremely well done from start to finish, could you teach others to do the same? Thanks for a challenging and great time.

Mark, My team will gladly give lessons of the right way and the wrong way to put on a marathon to other races, big problem is getting them to listen. We get questions from perspective participants who hope we add 5ks, relay divisions, 10ks, 1/2 marathons and whatever to our event. One thing I hope, while this event is under my watch, is to NOT add all these races within the race which certainly adds bodies but takes away from the fine folks like you who are covering the whole distance (and who should get all the attention) Our team wants to keep MDI pure like Boston where everyone wearing a bib number is doing the same thing. Lesson 1: I hope a few other race directors will follow suit and stop making marathoners into a sideshow and keep the attention on them as the main event....
