As we speak the queen of web sites Mary Ropp has just finished updating the 2005 MRH site: http://www.mainerunninghistory.org/2005_links.html She is hard at work finishing 2006 right now which means that every internet era race result of every race held in Maine will be featured and only found on the pages of Maine Running History http://www.mainerunninghistory.org/ After this procees is complete, vintage results or results that have long been missing or thought lost will continue to appear on a regular basis again. We have boxes of things you have all sent us to add to this site which is intended to help preserve our history. We will be adding pictures and results as fast as we can.... please be patient and keep sending us anything relating to Maine Running History.

here is an e-mail that was sent to us at Maine Running History. If you can help solve the mystery of where this race was held and what race it is from we'd love to hear it thanks ­­Marathon Road Race from August 1908.... we have been passed down a Gold Medal engraved to have been won by a great great grandfather W.C. Ploethner.... it was passed on by his daughter (whom he never had an opportunity to meet due to war) so little history accompanies his collection of medals... ­ I have been on numerous websites and have no response from most... if there is any information or if by chance you have other ways I can track down some sort I would very much appreciate it... Thanks again for your time!!

All, Do note that even through recent years, many races were called "marathons" even though they were far less that 26.2 miles. So this could be for any distance.
