Sheri Piers of Falmouth and Kristin Barry of Scarborough became the third and fourth Mainers to qualify for the 2008 U.S. Olympic women's marathon trials, scheduled for April 20, the day before the Boston Marathon.

Running together, the training partners completed the Philadelphia Marathon on Sunday in 2 hours, 45 minutes, 36 seconds -- beating the 2:47 qualifying time. They join two other Maine women who already have qualified for the trials: Emily LeVan of Wiscasset and Joan Benoit Samuelson of Freeport.
