Sunday was my first marathon and it surpassed every other running experience I’ve had to date. Gary, his team and the volunteers did an outstanding job, the crowds were great, and the post race refreshment and set-up were excellent. I also love how the community has embraced this race. But the best part of the race for me was seeing my family at mile 18 at RA corner cheering me on and running on an island that I’ve visited for the past 17 years. Even after 17 years, I kept saying to myself during the race what a beautiful place MDI truly is. I met both my goals of first finishing and second running under 4 hours (3:57). Gary and team, your advice of running negative splits was spot on… 2:02 first half, 1:55 second half. Definitely see you next year!
