Posted by gary allen on December 16, 2006, 1:25 pm, in reply to "a sad day for our small community" The old course, starting at the University of Me went out Stillwater Ave up the big hill which even had it's own name, "the educator" we passed by the current Bangor Mall site (which was not built yet)anyway a really big bull with a ring in his nose came out on the course from the fields we were passing by and started to chase us, talk about picking the pace up! I also remember running with the eventual ladies champion that day, Maryann Gelermann and seem to remember that we both commented on her being very nice looking (what can I say, once a Cranberry Islander always a Cranberry Islander!)Mike went on to run 2:48 to my 2:52 that day. Mike won the race in 1980 in 2:29. http://www.mdimarathon.org/history_mdi26.2.html
