It's Sale Day -- Rake Genetics Legacy Sale
Posted by Rake Genetics on December 1, 2020, 5:39 pm
On behalf of the Rake Family, we invite you to check out our offering of 5 decades of Genetics. For one of the first times, we are offering a selection of our very best foundation gilts and sows, as well as several boars that we believe are something many a hogman can build their farm around. These genetics have been developed and fine-tuned since we began raising purebred swine in 1969. In that time, our family has tested over 400 Chester White Sows in the SPI program. Today, many of the top Chester White Sires were bred by our family. The females being offered on this sale are backed by some of the most productive and proven genetics in the breed and these girls look the part. We are proud of our history in the Chester White breed as well as the other breeds being offered and are confident that these females will perform beyond many people’s expectations. We truly believe that Tom’s passion of the hog industry was more than just the hogs. ..It was his friends, family, and customers. Today we have an offering that anyone buying can rest assured will be a cornerstone to their breeding program and the purchaser will be both happy and lucky to have in their herd. Our father enjoyed nothing more than helping young people and fellow breeders exceed in their goals for their operation and getting them off to a running start and that is what these hogs will do for their purchasers. As we have heard time and time again, Tom was often far ahead of the game in the industry due to his foresight of where the industry needs to go for breeders to be successful. A statement from a customer and true fellow hogman, Clint Halfmann, caught our attention shortly after my dad passed “ In Today’s industry, the need to conform for the sake of earning a living is 100% likely. However, knowing how to use “the sow” is what separates the numbers producers from the breeders. Tom wasn’t just a breeder, he was a breeder for the breeders. He produced stock that a young operation could build an entire herd around if they knew what to do. Tom raised females that were females and boars that were boars.” On behalf of our family, we would like to thank everyone for taking the time to look at what truly were some of Tom’s most prized breeding possessions. We would also like all of our customers to know that Tom truly considered his customers to be family and we will carry that tradition on. We will continue on a smaller scale to raise proven breeding stock hogs on this farm as Tom did and look forward to hopefully seeing many of you in the future.
