Stress test 2019

Re: Stress test"
I know I'm "over the hill" and probably getting senile, But I didn't know it's so difficult to have enough muscle and body mass on a negative Poland. How do the other breeds do it? I expect my run of the mill Poland market hogs to have 8 to 9 inch LEA with about .53 Bf at 265 Lbs and 165 days, and be extremely sound and efficient (without Paylean, etc.) Maybe I better go back and retest my last few negative herd boars that have had 10 to nearly 12 inch loin eyes since it's apparently impossible. There're a few of us that still raise commercial boars and even sell boars to the commercial breeding companies. It hasn't always been an easy road, but it can be done, and it's more than paid the bills. Those many outstanding FFA and 4-H members I've had over the years that are pork and beef industry leaders today were all taught that the harder you work the luckier you are. Their biggest frustration today is that as they hire today's promising youth that have been so successful in the showring (like they were at one time), those youth have a very difficult time accepting and adapting to the necessary production practices for survival in the vast true world of commercial operations. As an educator, I always thought my major obligation to my students was to teach them things that would make it easier for them to be more successful every day for the rest of their lives.
