Food for thought

With a lot of discussion being held within the purebred circles the past couple of days about showing by weight, birth dates etc., it really is quite simple. If you breed today, you should have a litter due approximately December 19, 2018. If you have bred earlier than this (let's say the past 5 or 6 weeks, you can expect October, November or early December litters. Pretty simple. It is important to make sure you are representing your genetics and herd fairly and correctly. From what I have been told by my superiors, the CPS has no intention to show purebred breeding boars and gilts by weight. We do plan on monitoring breeding dates, birth dates, and recording dates like we have in the past. Let's make sure you are doing things like they are supposed to be done. The time for action is now. Register them when they are farrowed, not earlier. It's simple. jlw
