Interview with Thomas Titus from RBC Chesters about The Team Purebred Foundation Female
Over the weekend I had the opportunity to visit with Thomas Titus of RBC Chesters. The Conrady and Titus families have graciously stepped up to donate the Team Purebred Winter Foundation Female. She sells Saturday, December 9 in Lebanon, IN.
I asked Thomas why it is important to RBC and others to support Team Purebred with a foundation female donation. Thomas stated they feel strongly about helping to continue the legacy of young people showing livestock and promoting youth development. Bringing families together, along with teaching values, life experiences, and work ethic are all important and RBC is honored to help give more young people those opportunities.
I then asked Thomas to talk about what role Team Purebred plays in the longevity and future successes of purebred breeders. He was quick to share how Team Purebred events have increased the demand and value of specifically Chesters and Yorks for RBC as well as purebred swine across the United States. They are selling prospects to a wider geographic area than they ever have. Exemplified by this female's littermates' success in Oklahoma and Texas. It is also a chance to share how they also utilize Chesters in their commercial swine operation.
When I asked the final question I could sense the enthusiasm in his voice. I asked him to explain what makes her a foundation female and what her kind represents to their operation. He is very excited about giving someone an opportunity to own this gal. The focus on this mating is all about production. Her granddam is very prolific—laying down and having large, UNASSISTED litters. Litters of 12, 14, 16, and even 18 are part of her parities. Her dam has carried on the same type of large, unassisted problem-free farrowings. RBC is so confident in this mating they have repeated it three times to lay in several productive daughters. Combine that production with a female that has bone, a robust rib cage, and muscle with excellent breed character and watch out.
A unique opportunity awaits Chester enthusiasts on December 9. Seldom do we see such a positive and unique combination of production with show ring appeal and show ring results. I look forward to seeing you in Lebanon, IN, on Saturday.
If you are unable to attend, please call me or Jack to talk about this foundation female with 100% of the proceeds going to support Team Purebred activities all the while adding a special female to your sow herd.
Thanks again to RBC Chesters for their awesome donation.
