Your are talking about two different worlds here, guys. Those 30 p/s/yr farms are complete commercial using crossbred sows selected for generations to breed back in 7 or fewer days and have LARGE litters. They are selected to produce pigs that will grow fast on fewer pounds of feed and produce lean,heavy muscled carcasses. Those pigs would not get a sniff in a show ring but they will make money for people producing MEAT, not pigs that fit this week's definition of "good". The sows producing $300 profit per pig show pigs won't do that because they haven't been selected to do that.
