Jack, it's my understanding that when a judge uses this term they are referring to the pin bone region of the hog. For those unfamiliar with that term it is the back part of the hip bone. My interpretation is that they are saying the hogs are wider/squarer/or leveler out of their hip. The term pin is more commonly associated with evaluating dairy cattle when we talk about females being "leveler from hooks to pins." Personally I don't like hearing this term in hogs but I've probably always been more of a traditionalist when it comes to sorting and talking pigs.
