Thanks for your response. I was looking at this from a selfish point of view. We would like to participate in both events raising Spots, Yorks, and Durocs. As it is, the economy we will force us to choose one or the other. I fully understand the arguments below why to keep them separate. Traditions can be preserved while progressing.
I will say this, the CPS breeders and Team Purebred have nothing to prove to the NSR. Actually, we should be proud of the progress made within the respective breeds and want to showcase our efforts. I have been on both sides and there are great kids, people, breeders, and hogs in both organizations.
I know this would be a huge undertaking to get this accomplished. There a very smart, hard working people in both organizations that will have to analyze and determine if this makes sense. This means the egos need to be checked at the door.(I'm sure nobody will admit this is part of the issue, but we all have one) We are competitive people thats why we show pigs.
If it was determined to be a good idea, I have the utmost confidence that details of putting on such an event can be coordinated.
I would love to be part of the discussion, unfortunately my opinion would have a strong bias. I just ask that we keep an open mind to creative ideas realizing that some work and others don't.
