This is the exact paragraph that would tell you the hogs needed to be bled.
5) Brucellosis: If hogs originate from a brucellosis free
state and/or validated brucellosis free herd -- they
need not be tested. If you do not qualify to the above
terms, hogs must be bled negative for brucellosis on or
after May 28, 2009. Results must be printed on health
certificate
If you don't validate (test a percent of your sows on a quarterly basis) then you need to pull blood on specific pigs based on this specific paragraph. Like I said in a previous post if you are going to a show in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota you will probably have to have the hogs bled. At these national shows (any show that you will have hogs from multiple states with both junior and open show breeding stock) the health regulation will be the same for both groups. If you can't find the regulations with the junior info you will always be able to find them with the breeding stock stuff. What I do is print the health regulations and hand them to the vet so there is no miscommunication. If your vet is at all familiar with writing CVI's they will understand the regulations. Sorry your family missed the opportunity to participate at this years Team Purebred event. Hopefully you will be able to join us next year. Mark
