Cowgirl I am certain several will agree that we had to bleed for a brucellosis test to attend the 2009 CPS Summer Type Conference/ Team Purebred Summer National in Springfield Illinois if we did not originate from a validated brucellosis free herd. You also need to reread the health requirements for NJSA.
A. Brucellosis: All animals must originate from a Brucellosis Class “Free” state or be from a validated brucellosis free herd with the validation herd number and test date on certificate or be negative tested for brucellosis after June 8, 2009, and test date written on the certificate. Texas exhibitors must be from a validated brucellosis free herd with the validation herd number and test date on certificate or be negative tested for brucellosis after June 8, 2009, and test date written on the certificate.
B. Since all states are Stage 5 of the Pseudorabies (PRV) eradication program, no testing is required for this show. If the animals come from a Pseudorabies qualified herd, it is required that this number and the last test date appear on the health certificate.
No one has to bleed for PRV and if you originate from a brucellosis class "free" state or validated herd you do not have to pull blood. I know Illinois is a class "free" state. (we did not have to pull blood)
It all depends on the state where the event is held. Basically if the event is held in a state with high concentrations of hogs you are probably going to have to draw blood.
