I found some pics relating to Queen Mary's funeral but not the actual funeral procession.
There is indeed no crown on the coffin in these pics. Perhaps her time as Queen was by then so far away, and there were two queens living.
I can't think of any reason for her crown to be involved in preparations for the coronation so perhaps it had simply been her wish to not place it on the coffin.
