Katannah had not thought to ask why Cortana was helping her...she did listen when the wolfess spoke..so Katannah only said what she had understood as her reasoning.
"She said she had come to love this land...and all it's inhabitants...that she didn't want the flowers to bloom no longer and didn't want to see them and it's entirety covered in ash. Her coming to me that day was unplanned by me...and I honestly believe unplanned by her. But she came to me asked me to hear her out...and I did. It was for this land and the pack members that she betrayed Lestat. I didn't see any selfish act in it...after all she did put her head on a chopping block to protect me." Katannah almost didn't breath while speaking...but moments of silence was made to take breaths.
She was glad that Tayen had understood...and accepted her reasoning...but could not be completely sure that she can turn her mind from anger towards Cortana...Katannah only knew what was told...she felt it was the truth, but still it was only hearsay and wasn't sure if anyone else would believe it. Either way Katannah pledged her life to this land and the pack leader...she wouldn't lead Tayen any where until she was sure Cortana would not be harmed.
