The oddly colored fem sat amidst the large, pink flowers in the field just over the rise watching the sun as it began to sink under the horizon. The orange light cast odd shadows in the remaining flower fields and made them glow orange despite their naturally bright pink hue. Indeed, the wolfess herself was taking on an odd, flaming aura for facing the sun. The dark pink striping, paws, and tip of tail were red in this light, the white they sat on a sparkling yellow, even the wings that were folded neatly away from the sun. The deep pink cores took on the image of the sun itself as Cortana stared straight across the horizon.
There had been many happenings in this place since the arrival of this strange fem. Even now, Cortana realized she'd been reborn, a goddess in her awakening. It was what she chose from now on that would shape her future and the future of those who now looked to her for guidence. It had never occured to her that the lives of others would ever be in her hands and under her good judgment. It had started out with her and the little Halloween dragon, Spartan, but soon, quite soon, grew to larger scales. Next came Blade, the poor pup in serious need of guidance, then Doviel the aqua dragon, a smokey gray aptly named Saraku, and those two strange dark feys, Astrum and Umbra.
As the striped fem stared out over the horizon, watching as the purple and blue haze reached out behind her to swallow up the orange sky in front and turn the fields dark with twilight, she couldn't help but see her life folding out in front of her in paths that lead farther than she could possibly see. Could she really let Lestat call an ashen winter upon her paradise? At first, her response had been simple. Why not? What was there for her? She had always been a chaotic, flying by the seat of her pants kind of gal.. But now? Yes, she was still her daring, haughty, and rather b###hy self, but now she had somewhere she belonged. A home and others to care for and oversee. That voice in her that had been so supressed for so long was prying at her brain once more. What was she to do? Sit around and let that tyrant ruin everything in the world she'd come to love?... No.
A chilled night wind crossed the fem from the south-west, carrying a familiar scent with it. At first, a deep growl began to well up in white and pink wolf's chest, but it quickly subsided. This could be one hell of a chance, now couldn't it. Katannah would benifit from the nuclear winter about as much as she would... And Blade.. Perhaps it was time he made amends with his mother? That wasn't for her to decide really, but allowing Katannah on the pack lands would at least give it a chance.
Cortana gave a sharp shake to her coat, relieving it of dust and the just forming dew. The white wings fluttered back to her sides, hugging her tight as she began to jog off on pink paws. The white of her fur seemed to glow in the silver light cast down by the moon and stars, standing out brilliantly against the pink striping. As the wolf came over the rise that had once been behind her, paws touching on scourched earth from the remains of a battle that seemed so long ago, the sight of that oddly marked fem endtered the strange pink eyes. Black pupils narrowed slightly to catcht he full view and demeanor, but something told Cortana that no threat was present. Closing in, the wolfess left a good gap of seven yards between them before speaking.
"Katannah, surprising to see you here." The voice had that clip of sharpness, but no malice or demeaning nature to it this time. "Have you come to see your son or are you on business?"
The wolfess stood before her acqaintance with that tall, proud posture she normally carried, eyes meeting the mismatched fem's befoer her. If it could be helped, there would be no more bloodshed on these lands for some time to come.
