((I don't see how she could avoid that... the space that isn't on fire isn't even all that large, and especially if one of her paws is injured and her shoulder is scorched... but oh well, whatever.))
For one thing, Cortana wasn't going to keep herself in 'much better shape' if Tayen had any say. She lay still for awhile, seeing that Cortana wasn't about to attack. Her turn. She used a few moments to think of what could be put into her advantage, but couldn't think of anything. She needed to do something that would put her at advantage over Cortana without too much strain. Apparently, the white wolf was fire resistant, so she wouldn't count on that to work.
Tayen shivered. Her coat had grown stiff as the water and blood formed a film, drying over it, yet giving her chills at the same time. The wounds had stiffened, and were no longer bleeding freely. The fire felt somewhat warm on her back, and Tayen guessed it would eventually dry her off. She shifted uncomfortably at the gritty feeling, yet felt she would have to ignore it a little bit longer.
Her silver eyes shifted around, but the scenery hadn't really changed. Two wolfs in a circle of fire, on damp ground that was slowly drying out. If anything, the fire would close in rather than recede, but it would take time for that, and Tayen wasn't enormously worried. She rose, shuffling backwards until her back was perhaps only and inch away from the fire. Then she flatten herself on the ground, curling her tail inward as to not allow it to catch fire. The warmth felt good and somewhat soothing, but she couldn't let it distract her. Her eyes remained wide open and her ears alert, staring with mistrust at the white wolf.
"What's wrong, you tired? I'm not." It was a waiting game they were playing; one of them had to attack. And Tayen would be forced to if Cortana refused to move. And if Tayen attacked... it wouldn't be good for either one of them.
