Cortana felt the blow without seeing it, being pushed face first toward the still blazing flames. Her eyes widened, but she was already on a downward path when she was hit, so she hit the ground only a foot from the flames. The heat swelled up around her and singed her fur as she dug all for feet deep into the ground to prevent her from skidding into the flames. It was hard, her balance almost lost from the blow and enertia. Luckily she stopped mere inches from the fire and pounced away so as to to be burned.

The white and pink wolfess snarled and turned to face Tayen once more. She knew the wolfess had used to attacks that were "quite tiring" in description, a lot more magic, and had deep wounds. There was no way the other could carry on much longer. All Cortana had to do was keep herself in better shape that the other wolfess, and she planned to do just that.

Facing Tayen, she waited for her to react.
