Still, she knew she had stalled long enough: all she needed were a couple moments and she had her move. All she needed was to preserve some energy and plan it out completely. She felt the nervousness creeping up on her, and tried her best to relax. Once again, this was sacrificial, and she would have to go with her best bet to winning this thing. The chances were slim with her energy draining, but she was running out of chances.
She painstakingly adjusted herself again, wincing at the pain in her back as her muscle shifted. It had grown less intense and more numb and sickening, as she felt her stomache lurch slightly each time she moved her back. She rose herself further off the ground, but dug her paws in to brace herself. The fog was lifting, yet the fire was stilling roaring. The dragons were probably back by now, yet Tayen didn't have time to gaze up and check. They would be very angry, yet whether Tayen won or not, they would doubtlessly put out the fire.
It was the thought of her dragons that assured her of what her next moves were going to be. The last battle she and Zig-Zag had staged against the aqua dragon... she recalled how the use of bush fire combined with another blessing had ended the fight. This time, she would have to do the same thing in a different order, but there was no garuntee it would work; Cortana had a counter-attack for everything. This was the only thing that stopped Tayen from attempting it at this turn. She would have to wait, just a little bit more.
It wasn't that Tayen wanted to be hit, it was that she wasn't paying attention and her eyes were on the fog. She was late as she noticed Cortana coming, the desperation to keep her lands building as she stepped back, yet was still hit and knocked backwards. Tayen slipped, then quickly scrambled back to her paws, placing herself in a low crouch again. She couldn't allow herself to be thrown into the fire as she found Cortana was planning, but she knew she couldn't waste any more energy on foiled counter-attacks. She decided to wait this one out, rising slightly and bracing herself again, trying to edge away from the fire without edging too close to Cortana.
