Cortana began to move, and Tayen fell into step, keeping her eyes focused on the white wolf's. She smiled mysteriously, rotating opposite as to keep her eyes on Cortana. Tayen could already see where this was going; the white wolf was going to wait Tayen out, and it could easily become exhausted if the midnight wolf continued unsuccessful lunges. Her claws flexed, as she imagined the barb sinking into one of those rouge eyes, or even better, piercing a vein - but it wouldn't be so easy.
And of course, it was Tayen's time to move, and there was only one obvious thing she could do. Well, no, it wasn't actually all that obvious. But the key thing was that it HAD to work. Tayen flicked her tongue over her lips nervously, standing still and flexing her blunt claws in the frost. She could either feint all day, or make her move... but it was sacrificial. She sighed. If she continued this, she would surely lose. If she played her king, she might find Cortana had an ace up her sleeve.
She could do little but take the risk.
Tayen's eyes narrowed, concentrating on the wolf before her, and she summed up all her negative emotions. THIS stranger walking into HER lands trying to claim HER pack...! A small patch of sky above grew pale as if a small storm was brewing, and a hail of sharp shards rained straight at Cortana. Bloodloss was the least she expected to happen, with blindness as a plus. But the most Tayen was aiming for was a large amount of pain, enough that would allow whatever fatigue fell over her to be passed off. Tayen stood stalk still, her eyes still pinned to Cortana. She hoped her facade could stay up, and that the she-wolf would not see or know how exhausted Tayen may become. All the midnight wolf could do was bluff, raising her head and flicking her tail, her eyes bright as if she had all the energy in the world. In reality, she was unsure how much longer she could last with a weariness slowly falling over her from the use of the spell.
