It was at this moment that Tayen lay curled up in her den, a young dragon inside the arc she formed with her body, cuddled in her warmth. It was small at the moment, although its breed tended to grow large. Two other dragons, and formerly, a tiger and two wolves used to live here. Where they went, Tayen could only guess. On second though, she couldn't. The so-called 'alpha' of this pack had vanished again, and Tayen decided that she would take title as alpha again, simple as that. But this time, she wouldn't agree to let it fall back into Surreal's paws if she asked for it. The wolfess took no care to keep the land, so it would be ruled under Tayen, and after Tayen... the property of whoever or whatever killed her.
The wolf's empty dreams were interupted as a howl erupted into the air. Her ears twitched, yet the abrupt urgency in the noise didn't allow Tayen to place her head down and snooze. The young Smokey Grey stirred, and Tayen flatted her paws against the hard-packed dirt of the crevice that made her den, slipping out and signalling the young one to follow. After clearing the den, Tayen paused a moment to stretch her long limbs, flicking her tongue over her nose and yawning widely. It was always during the best naps that she was interupted, something she simply couldn't figure out.
The she-wolf was of the some-what large sort, timber in breed although her coat was midnight black, lacking a single streak of brown. Her coat was the color of the new moon, while her eyes were the bright silver of when the sun lit the earth's single satellite. Tayen was tall and slender, her legs long like that of an adolescent wolf, although she was a young adult. Her paws briskly covered the ground, frosty with the morning's dew, setting in motion towards the border with a small amount of haste. Her pawsteps slowed as she saw the white wolf, although she took a few more closer for a better look, pausing and glancing breifly behind herself.
The smokey grey had by this time caught up. His youth was rather obvious, as his head only rose to the bottom of Tayen's ribcage. His spiked tail twisted slightly as he adjusted his wings and sat slightly behind her, feeling somewhat unsafe around a visitor he had never seen before. Neither of the other two duality's Tayen was so often seen with were even within the borders, to Umbriel's knowledge. He didn't doubt Tayen could keep him safe, but being used to the security of two fully grown dragons, a single wolf didn't appear to be as safe.
Tayen, meanwhile, was giving the wolf a careful lookdown, her silver eyes shifting from the thick coat to the bright egg. Her eyes paused on this for a moment, as even a dragon-expert such as Tayen had yet to come across this breed. Her curiousity almost caused her to ask, but she knew that business came first, and settled for that to begin with. "Is there anything you need here, stranger?" Her black tail flicked irritably, and naturally began to curl upwards to openly assert that she owned the land. She felt she had no need to state it, so she allowed her tail to tell the story. Umbriel remained silent, his bright blue eyes pasted to the sky as if searching for something to rescue him. Tayen had no need to look before guessing he was umcomfortable, feeling the roughness of his scales suddenly rubbing against her leg.
"You scared? Just go back to the den. You'll be alright." Umbriel didn't move, and Tayen quickly brought her eyes back to the new wolf, guessing that Umbriel simply wasn't scared enough yet. Still, Tayen felt somewhat happy to know that even at this age the dragon would well enough stick by her side; raising this one may not be as challenging as the two-headed dragons had been.
