John Conley was born in Maryland and was married to Elizabeth (Brown) Smith on December 21, 1805 in the German Reformed Church in Clear Spring, near Hagerstown. He later moved to Preston County VA (WV) in 1811. He had 10 children and was the grandfather of William G. Conley , the 18th Governor of WV.
I am looking for any information on his parents. His father apparently was the ancestor who came from Ireland.
