Best Maternal Bulls? Posted by Indiana on April 22, 2008, 8:28 am 209.132.165.241 What are the best Th/PHA FREE bulls for producing quality heifers/cows? Does not matter what breed the bull is, would like to use proven bulls. Will be using on Chi-angus, Maine-Angus, and Angus cows.  Post a Response

They have been great cows so far. The oldest just had her third calf. She had my best calf the last two years. Even her first calf was a Legend that topped our heifers. None of them have ever taken more than a straw of semen to breed, they have worked to different types of bulls, they have great udders and bring in a big chubby calf. I have used a little more of the bull for about 4 years straight. Of the 4 mature ones that I have, 3 are out of the same cow and one is out of another. They are all products of ET on really good pure Angus mothers. It might not be the best guage on a bull when they are out of that good of dams, but I will say that they are better than the Meyer calves from the same cows. I have used Aftershock on a few crossbred cows the last couple of years and have been happy. Each Aftershock calf that I have ever had at my place has been sound, softer made than momma, and bigger boned than momma. I have no affiliation to any owners, just think he is one of the better real beef bulls that you can use in the clubby business. Matter of fact, we didn't use him early on because we had some bad dealings with one of the original owners, but his ways caught up to him so he is now out of the cattle business and I have liked the bull ever since!  Post a Response

Calves come around #80-90 pounds and grow and milk. Make awesome mamma cows. I have black, black-baldy, and red ones out of him. And of course Dream On; cross him on something with some meat on them like your chiangus and maineangus and they would be pretty good. Some of the best Dream On's I have seen are out of maineangus cows. And the hair is pretty good too.  Post a Response
