Dr. Who bw's Posted by Chris on April 21, 2008, 11:16 pm 71.63.28.61 My friend had a Dr. Who calf a couple weeks ago and it supposedly weighed 182lbs out of a first calf heifer sired by Heatwave. Needless to say the cow died. The calf lived and is a stout freak. I'm somewhat having a hard time believing it was that big. Has anyone ever had a calf that big? I could see 150lbs, but 182 just seemed ungodly huge to me unless it was a PHA calf which this one is not. Chris  Post a Response

Calf tipped the scale at exactly 100 lbs. We had to pull for about an hour, but finally got him. We suspect this birthweight had to due with the dam and her "eating habits". Neverthless, we have an awesome calf that will make a great steer for somebody up north, or we might try to push him for Houston next year.  Post a Response

Feed was extremely high and we had a terrible year for hay last summer. Cows that I saw weren't super fat by any means. Decent shape and obviously sucked down with their new calves. I just couldn't hardly believe one being that big. But I guess anything is possible. Chris  Post a Response
