We are having an issue with the 2 steers we keep in our cool room. Neither eats well when they are in the cooler. It's not a huge issue on the one (he's already at or near his finish weight) but the better of the two needs a couple hundred pounds between now on the end of August to be at his prime when he gets to our state fair.
We started putting them in the cooler 10 days ago and we keep it at 65-69 degrees. They get rinsed each morning and then put in the cooler between 6-7:00 am. They come out after dark at about 10:00 pm and are rinsed a second time.
The cool room has been pitch dark although I added a light yesterday after being told that may help them stay interested in their feed.
I'm looking for any advice you'd like to share.
