A naval infection that goes to any other place (ie joint, hindleg etc) implies that bacteria have been in the blood (ie had to travel from the naval to the leg)- so it is possible that there is infection elsewhere that you do not (yet) see and may not see if the treatment works. This is a pretty serious situation - so my first concern would be make sure you cure the infection. If you can cure it you may not have any problems with the leg, but these can be pretty nasty. You might want to take the calf's temperature and if it isn't normal on day 5 contact your vet about either changing the antibiotic or continuing it for a longer period of time. You might also want to check the joints - naval infections often go to the joint and they will be swollen, warm, and sometimes tender. If you find more infection you might want to call your vet. Good luck
