we ussually use malch in our cool room. if your pen surrounded by a tarp is keeping your animals cool then i guess it works for you ive known people that have just tied them up in a dark part of their barn too and that has worked well for them. teh rag oil will help prevent some dandruff and the hair. a good hair treatment is revive if you use it right it will keep the hair shiny and will provide as a good conditioner. hope this helps.
