We had two Hairy calves last year, both heifer calves out of mature cows. Birthweights were 105 and 132 lb. Larger one was a really hard pull. I'd hate to think what the bw would be if they had been bull calves. Cows do not get grain - forage only. Both these calves were buck kneed when born, but straightened up in a couple of months. Surprisingly, I really like them both as yearlings, just not sure I want to deal with the birthweight issues if I keep them for replacements.
