The feeder calf shows are more popular in this area than the fat steer show, therefore there is a market for these calves. Your area is probably different. I know the Adams Co fair is in July, so if these kids that want to compete they almost have to have Jan or Feb calf, other wise you are showing a 300lb calf. Most of these breeders in this area breed for Feb and March calves.
