The second friendly of the season proved to be a good night for the Pies, and an enjoyable game for both teams after the teething troubles had been sorted out to get the game on in the first place!
The first-half was very 'nip and tuck' and with little goalmouth action at either end.
The Pies upped their game after Fabio's half-time chat, and Tosh latched onto a 'Rio' style blunder to roll in the first goal into an unguarded net.
This led to a purple patch for the Pies and after some concerted pressure led to Tim [debutant] scoring with a sublime left foot strike to make it 2-0.
Swalcliffe tried to get back into the match and perhaps were relieved that Bob Nev unselfishly pulled the ball across goal when a chance came his way.
Tosh was drawn from the action after a 'square pass' forfeit, only to return in a midfield role and delightfully chip in from 25 yards with the keeper stranded.
The Pies took their foot off the gas then and Swalcliffe deservedly scored with virtually the last kick of the game with the Pies rearguard AWOL.
A good run-out played in great spirit and another debutant Rob also showed up well, so food for thought for Fabio when the missing squad members return [?].
