Even though the Chicago Blackhawks' nightmare season is nearing the finish line, there will remain at least 1 constant.
According to The Athletic, the Blackhawks are extending their current radio deal with 720 AM WGN Radio for 3 more seasons. In a related move, WGN & the Blackhawks have signed contract extensions with play-by-play voice John Wiedeman & analyst Troy Murray.
The Nexstar-owned news/talk radio station has aired Hawk games since 2008 and has aired all 3 of the team's Stanley Cup Championships in 2010, 2013 & 2015. The team's radio deal with WGN was set to expire at the end of this season.
The team's TV deal with NBC Sports Chicago expires at the end of this season along with the Bulls & White Sox. It's unclear if the 3 teams will continue their TV partnership with the regional sports network. Stay tuned.
