WRLL received approval today for 24 hour operation, taking over the hours WCEV held prior to the WCEV license being deleted. This is a big windfall for WRLL because even though it is a graveyard frequency, having a 24 hour signal gives them a much more valuable asset. FCC link below:
Stever, I agree. It just boosted the value of WRLL immensely. I guess the FCC figures better giving them 24/7 clearance than letting another AM go dark.
Looks like Mark Heller is a former engineer for AM 1450 when they were WVON and a current owner of 2 AM signals in Wisconsin with the monikers of "True Oldies Channel" (according to a site on the internet). I do not think he randomly files these petitions as someone suggested on this board. I believe there was more incentive behind his actions, besides the claim on the FCC petition trying to buy the WCEV license.
